The Lenzing Modal® brand has an excellent reputation which has been established over several decades. Many brand manufacturers have Lenzing Modal® in their collections. Lenzing Modal®, the softening fiber, enjoys global recognition. Even the generic term, Modal, is directly derived from Lenzing because for decades it has been the only manufacturer of Modal fibers. TENCEL® is known as a natural functional fiber. The particularly good moisture absorption coupled with skin-sensitive properties make this special fiber attractive for many fields of application such as activewear, clothing for sensitive skin and home textiles such as bed wear.

The combination of these two fibers is very promising after all ProModal® offers softness and a high performance all in the same fiber. In a blendomat specially calibrated for Lenzing, ProModal® is precisely blended gram by gram. This makes it possible to guarantee a homogeneous blend of both fibers as well as optimum quality. Lenzing is the only supplier of this fiber combination since only Lenzing produces both of these cellulose fibers.

Botanic – The basic principle

With ProModal® you can feel right away that the fiber blend comes from Nature. It makes sense because botanic principles are applied throughout its production process. Thus, there is naturalness in every textile of ProModal®. The basic botanic principle – photosynthesis – forms the basis of ProModal®. Wood, the raw material used for ProModal®, can only form as a result of photosynthesis.

Eco-compatibility across the board

ProModal® offers a variety of special features! One example is the complete integration of the production process which is totally unparalleled. Lenzing Modal® is manufactured from indigenous beech wood. The pulp used is produced at Lenzing. Therefore, Lenzing has control over the entire manufacturing process. This makes it possible to optimise each process step to ensure the best use of all of the substances employed, as well as the highest possible recovery rates.
The added TENCEL® fiber is very persuasive thanks to its revolutionary manufacturing process. TENCEL® is manufactured in a process that is based on solvent spinning. It represents the greatest accomplishment in cellulose fiber technology because of its closed loop production method.

Botanic principles are applied during the production of all Lenzing fibers. ProModal® is made of wood and thus originates from the world of plants.


PROMODAL® FOR THE SAKE OF THE ENVIRONMENT

Put to the test

By order of Lenzing AG, the University of Utrecht in the Netherlands carried out a life cycle analysis* of Lenzing fibers. The topics examined were over-fertilization, the excess acidity of the air, water and soil consumption, global warming and the effects on human health. Another important point was the consumption of non-renewable resources, which in the case of Lenzing, i.e. the raw material wood, is very small. The Lenzing site has proved itself to be particularly sustainable.  As a result of synergy effects such as the integrated production of pulp, energy and fibers, it is possible to make optimum use of resources. The Utrecht study evaluated all of the environmental impacts caused by making fibers.  Utrecht came to the conclusion that with cotton, the toxic load on fresh water and soil is enormous. Soil and water contamination are factors in growing cotton which are 100 times higher than with Lenzing fibers.


ProModal® and all other Lenzing fibers, are the eco-alternative to cotton.
The life cycle analysis proves it.

Tencel Sun to Launch at OR Summer Market
At Outdoor Retailer Summer Market in Salt Lake City, July 21-24, Lenzing is presenting TENCEL® SUN, a new TENCEL® fiber that provides superior solar protection especially designed to meet the performance and sustainability demands of the outdoor apparel market.

Lenzing, a leader in the field of innovation, has developed a new fiber that protects from solar radiation. TENCEL® SUN will be produced for this season and will be presented at all of the sports trade fairs around the world. The new TENCEL® SUN fiber is effective due to permanent mineral pigment integration that provides long-term protection from solar radiation. Even after washing several times, clothing made with TENCEL® SUN maintains its effectiveness. Tests show that UV protection levels of up to 110 UPF can be achieved.
The TENCEL® SUN fiber’s outstanding performance is due to several unique properties. One distinctive function is that the fiber swells which enables clothing made with TENCEL® SUN to retain solar protection during high intensity outdoor activities. Conventional fabrics lose more than half of their solar protection effectiveness when they become damp or stretched.

羊駝毛Alpaca


羊駝毛來自一種叫“羊駝”(亦稱“阿爾巴卡”)的動物﹐這種動物主要生長於秘魯的安第斯山脈。安第斯山脈海拔4500﹐晝夜溫差極大﹐夜間-20-18﹐而白天1518﹐陽光輻射強烈﹑大氣稀薄﹑寒風凜冽。在這樣惡劣的環境下生活的羊駝﹐其毛發當然能夠抵禦極端的溫度變化。羊駝毛不僅能夠保濕﹐還能有效地抵禦日光輻射﹐羊駝毛纖維含有顯微鏡下可視的髓腔﹐因此它的保暖性能優於羊毛﹑羊絨和馬海毛。  

另外﹐羊駝毛纖維具17餘種天然色澤﹕從白到黑﹐及一系列不同深淺的棕色﹑灰色﹐是特種動物纖維中天然色彩最豐富的纖維。我們在市場上見到的“阿爾巴卡”即是指羊駝毛﹔而“蘇力”則是羊駝毛中的一種且多指成年羊駝毛﹐纖維較長﹐色澤靚麗﹔常說的“貝貝”為羊駝幼仔毛﹐相對纖維較細﹑較軟。羊駝毛面料手感滑﹐保暖性極佳。
